The funeral for Luther W. Wade, 82, who died June 20 in the Dodge County Hospital, was held Friday, June 22 in the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Rev. B. A. Winburn, Rev. Claude Healan and Rev. Graham Bowen officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Members of Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge No. 279 served as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Rev. Billy Floyd, William T. Wade Jr., Douglas Wade, jeffrey Wade, Brad Wade and Paul Pugh. Sacred organ music was furnished by Mrs. J. C. Lowery.
Mr. Wade was born in South Carolina, but lived most of his life in Eastman. He was a retired employee of Gulf Oil Corporation, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastman and a member of the Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge No. 279.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Luther W. Wade of Eastman; two sons, Luther W. Wade Jr. of Jonesboro and Lt. Col. William Thomas Wade of Marietta; three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Harrell and Mrs. Carl Johnson of Eastman; and Mrs. Tate Perdue of Atlanta; one brother, Woodard Wade of Baxley. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.1 |

Funeral services were held at Helena Baptist Church today for Terry Lewis Batchelor, 64, well known owner and operator of a taxi service in McRae for many years.
The Rev. F. Mitchell officiated, and burial was in Helena Cemetery with Harris and Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Batchelor was born in Putnam County, the son of Robert Lewis and Lucy Clements Batchelor. He was a member of the Helena Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Terry Batchelor Jr. of Macon, Thomas J. Batchelor of McRae, and Drayton Batchelor of Burlington, NC; one daughter, Mrs. Priscilla Batchelor Colter of Macon; five grandchildren, and two sister, Mrs. Earl Stanes and Mrs. L. N. Means, both of Tallahassee, Florida.1 |
