Ben Coleman Dies Here on June 14
Ben Coleman, 82, passed away at his home here on Wednesday, June 14.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Marshall and Marshall Chapel, Joe Blakeney officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mr. Coleman was a native of Hill County. He was born at Peoria but had lived most of his life in the Whitney community. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Martha, of Whitney, a son, Edward Ccoleman of Houston; seven daughters, Mrs. Joe Gilmore, Mrs. George Mc Cauley and Mrs. E. L. Alexander, all of Fort Worth. Mrs. John Harris, Mrs. H. B. Rosenquist and Mrs. Robert Braziel, all of Houston, and Mrs. Lessie Riddle of Whitney; two sisters, Mrs. Ina Mock and Mrs. Edgar Jordan, both of Hillsboro; three brothers, Garland Coleman of Paducah, Huel Coleman of Dallas and Hubert Coleman of Texarkana; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-granchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.1 |

Whitney - Mrs. Lessie Riddle Alexander, 64, of Route 3, died Thursday at a local hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, Bob quinn officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Mrs. Alexander was born March 8, 1919, in Whitney. She lived most of her life in the Whitney area and lived for several years in Fort Worth. She was married to Elword Alexander in 1976. She was a Church of Christ member.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jimmy Wayne Riddle of Fort Worth; a daughter, Earlene Howard of Fort Worth; a brother, Edward Coleman of Houston; five sisters, Anna Laura Gilmore and Doris McCauley, both of Fort Worth, and Minnie Lee Shuff, Oleta Braziel and Jewel Edwards, all of Houston; two stepdaughters, Bettie Jo Wingo of Crowley and Cathy Gayle Mims of Fort Worth; two stepsons, Gary Ben Alexander of Arlington and Gerald Lynn Alexander of Hereford; five grandchildren; and four great-
