Joseph Duncan lived and died (will probated October 10, 1793, FauquierCounty Will Book) in Fauquier County, Virginia, near the present site ofMorrisville, with his wife Lydia. About 1803, his son, Howson HooeDuncan, moved to Lincoln County, Kentucky, with his wife, Agnes Johnson,daughter of Samuel, buying about 100 acres on the east side of the roadfrom Danville to Col. ShelbyÙus on the waters of ClarkeÙus Run. ThisHowson had a son, Joseph Duncan, born July 27, 1781, in Fauquier County,Virginia, who came to Kentucky, about 1803, with his father. Joseph wasmarried in Lincoln County, Kentucky to Polly (Mary) Hite, August 15,1806. Joseph and his wife moved to Hardin County, Kentucky, about 1825,and both died there. Joseph, about 1834 and Polly, in the 1860Ùus. PollyÙus father came from Virginia with Col. Evan Rogers and they settled neareach other in the vicinity of Danville. She had a brother, Reed Hite, whomarried Lucinda Rogers (daughter of Col. Evan Rogers), June 11, 1829,Mercer County, Kentucky, and then started for the west. They went as faras Missouri, stayed awhile, and then returned to Kentucky, settling nearLebanon. Polly also had a sister, Priscilla, who married William McGraw,January 23, 1812. DonÙut know the parents of Polly Hite. Howson HooeDuncan married Lucretia Wortham of Bardstown, Kentucky, August 1, 1836,with Samuel Ross as guardian. Not sure of LucretiaÙus parents or wherethey came from. Prince William Co. VA Deeds L-160: 26 Dec. 1748, WilliamBumburry & wife Elizabeth of Stafford Co.
