Jacob Mathews, 86, died Tuesday at his home three miles east of Carrollton after a six months illness. He was a native of West Virginia and had resided there until nine years ago when he moved to Carroll Co. He was a member of Cadiz Presbyterian Church and Washington Hall Grange. Among the 4 daughters and 5 sons surviving is Mrs. W.J. Shaffer of Carrollton. Services were held today at Hopedale Presbyterian Church with interment at Hopedale.1 
BurialHis body was buried in Hopedale Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky.1

Mrs. Jerusha Manning Mathews, 80, died early Friday at her home four miles east of Carrollton, after an illness of two years. Born in Cameron, West Virginia, she had resided here eight years, and was a member of the Christian church at Cadiz. She and her husband J.H.Mathews, were to celebrate their 68th wedding anniversary next month. Services were held Sunday at 2:30 in the Christian Church at Hopedale. Burial was at Hopedale with the Blazer-Graham funeral home in charge.

Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Cora M. Gunn of Orlando, Florida, Mrs. George Gatts and Mrs. William Shafer of here, five sons; S. I. Mathews of Cambridge, F.B. and E.W. of here, J.W. of Aston, Iowa, and R. G. of Macedonia; 51 grandchildren, and 59great-grandchildren. 
BurialHer body was buried in Hopedale Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky.1
