My parents, grand-parents, great-grandparents are from there. Samuel &Elizabeth (Hobbs) Willett first migrated there in 1829.
They and most of the pioneer settlers were from St. RoseParish,Springfield, Washington Co., KY. They purchased their land (160acres) for $40. First St. Jerome Church in 1836, and first pastorappointed in 1843, Rev. Alfred Hagan.

I am the Editor & Compiler of the above book, which is a combination ofhistory back to Colonial Maryland, basic information about 91 familiesconnected with this small mainly Catholic community, and many pictures. This book has been well received, and there has been three printings.

Samuel & William H., sons of John H. & Susannah (Hilton) Thomas were twoof the pioneer settlers to 'the Catholic settlement' in the 1830s.
