(free wh male 00-05) Census 18301830Martin Snooks was probably counted as a free white male, age under 5, in Martin Snook's houshold, on the 1830 Census in Franklin County, Kentucky.6
(free wh male 10-15) Census 18401840Martin Snooks was probably counted as a free white male, age 10 and under 15, in Martin Snook's household, on the 1840 Census in Franklin County, Kentucky.7
(household member) Census 1850August 18, 1850Martin Snooks was listed as a member of the household of William H Roseberry and Mary Ann Wise in the 1850 Census on August 18, 1850 in District 1, Shelby County, Kentucky. Other members of the household listed were W Roseberry, C Roseberry, A Roseberry, Theresa Ann Roseberry and C F Roseberry.1
Census 1860June 26, 1860Martin was listed as the head of a household with his wife Theresa Ann Roseberry in the 1860 Census on June 26, 1860 in Westport, Jackson County, Missouri. Martin's occupation is listed as blacksmith. Other members of the household listed were James N Snooks, William A Snooks and Anna W Snooks.3
Census 1870July 23, 1870Martin was listed as the head of a household with his wife Theresa Ann Roseberry in the 1870 Census on July 23, 1870 in Ward 1, Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. Other members of the household listed were James N Snooks, William A Snooks, Anna W Snooks, W J Snooks and Ida M Snooks This census record is not completely consistent with the 1860 census. Martin and Theresa's implied birth years are different as are the names of two of the children. However so much of the rest of the information is consistent that I believe this is the correct family.8
Census 1870August 16, 1870Martin was listed as living alone on the 1870 Census on August 16, 1870 in Clayton Township, Brown County, Kansas. Martin's occupation is listed as blacksmith. It appears that Martin Snooks was counted twice, once in Missouri and again in Kansas 24 days later. The two counties are not very distant from each other so this is plausible.9
