Robert Wade, Jr. of Anheim Parish, Halifax County, died after he wrote his will on 19 January 1764 and before it was proved on 20 June 1765.
He gave his wife Ann, during her widowhood, her choice of either the plantation on which he lived or that on which his father lived and bequeathed two slaves, his personal property and stock of cattle to her. He left 750 acres of land on Linvilles Creek in Bedford County, part of 1500 acres which was recorded jointly in his name and that of Edmund Booker, and also a slave to his daughter Sarah Wade. He bequeathed the plantation on which his father lived, after his father's death, and a slave to his son Robert Wade. He left the plantation on which he lived and a slave to his son Hampton Wade. He gave a slave to his daughter Betty (Elizabeth) Wade. He instructed his executors Paul Carrington Clement, Memucan Hunt and Hampton Wade to sell the balance of his land and his stock of horses to pay debts, dividing the balance among his four children.
Edward Wade, John Armstrong, William Borroum, William Wade and James ??? witnessed his signature.

In the name of God Amen.
I, John Gwinn of the County of Person and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound mind and memory, do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.
Inprimis. To my well beloved wife Jane Gwinn, I will and bequeath the following negro slaves; Old Will, Jim, Sias, Dick, Anderson, Phill, Bobb, Ben, Little Will, John, Hanah, Mender, Anne, Mary, Willey, Jude, Rachel, Amy, Malissa and Ellen. The tract of land on which I live containing three hundred and sixty one acres and a half, more or less, my stock of horses and cattle consisting of work steers, cows and calves, all my stock of hogs, and sheep with all my household, and kitchen furniture and my plantation tools of every description, my waggon and riding chair, and harness to her and her heirs forever.
Item: I will and bequeath to my half sister's son, Robert Jones, two young negros viz; Burrel and Peggy to him and his heirs forever.
Item: I will and bequeath the following negros; Rhoda, Buck, Ben, Russell, Burrell, Hanah and their increase to John G. Wade, Edmund Wade, Tinsley Wade, Jane Wade, Polly Wade, Sally Wade, Robert Wade and James Wade, children of Robert Wade and Ann, his wife to be equally divided amongst them when James Wade arrives at the age of twenty-one years. The above named negros are my property, tho in the possession of Robert and Ann Wade, and such is the disposition I chose to make of them and I request my friend James Williamson to act as Trustee of the above named negros for the use of Robert and Ann Wade's above named children.
Item: It is my will that all my just debts be paid by my beloved wife Jane Gwinn. It is my will and desire that my very good friends Samuel Pointer and James Williamson be executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In testimony of this being my last Will and Testament, I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this 10th of April, 1816 in the presence of Elizabeth H. Woody and Currie Barnett.

Hampton Wade was a very important and rich man. Helped organize Halifax County in his living room with others in Antrim Parish.

Hampton Wade and family moved to Kentucky in 1811.

Hampton Wade remarried on September 30, 1804 and died in Christian County, KY in 1816

In the name of God, Amen. I, Hampton Wade of the county of Christian and state of Kentucky, being sick and weak of body, but sound in mind and memory, and calling to mind that it is appointed for all the human family once to die, do make this my last will and testament in manner and for following, to wit. First, I recommend my soal to God and my body to the clay. In next place I do will and bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, Sarah Wade, her side saddle, my family bible and Rippon's Hymns, out of my family library of books, her own large pot that she had when I married her, one flat iron and pair to tongues and one stone butter pot, one trunk. And I also give her twenty-five dollars in money in the place of her right of dower of the land, which she doeth now agree to take to be paid to her out of my estate as soon as it can be collected by me Executors. In the next place, I do give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Polly Burton, the sum of fifteen dollars that William Burton is indebted to me, and Nancy Arington ten dollars; and Sarah Arington ten dollars, each to receive their money from William Burton as the money is now in his hands. I do will and bequeath to my son David Wade, my land on which I now live, containing 42 1/2 acres, one feather bed and furniture, the bed that has been called by the family his, and the one half of my library of books. After all my just debts is paid, my will is the remainder of my property shall be equally divided between my four sons, Peter Wade, Robert Wade, Edward Wade and David Wade. I do appoint Peter Wade, George Torian and Sarah Wade, my Executors.
