AnecdoteGrace DeCamp, 7 Oct. 1993: Lewis had red hair and bright blue eyes. I asked her to tell about Lewis as a person and she wrote: I thought my daddy was a great dad, so kind and thoughtful. He loved the farm and taught us all how to work. he played with us, always took us to church. He would wrestle with us. See we had good times. He loved to sing. My dad died so young, we missed a lot of good times with him but he always seemed so happy and kind. My dad loved his biscuits for breakfast.1

Note 'Uncle Frank's name may have been Francis but Aunt Matt and Uncle Frank rated high in the stories. Aunt Matt must have been almost perfect. She was the one who took care of the sick, helped them out of their difficulties and kept them in food. They must have had more money than most as they were the ones who organized the trip to Kansas and at one time they kept a hotel in Waterloo. Uncle Frank was a strict Presbyterian and organized that church in Waterloo. At one time my sister worked for them and when she got the bread made, for some reason, didn't have time to get the dough pan washed so she hid it in the washing machine. Yes, Uncle Frank found it and really chewed her out. They had come out for Aunt Matti's health but later she wanted to go back to Illinois. As she was real ill, Uncle Frank fixed a bed in a wagon and started back with her but she died before they reached Illinois. (Edna Gerber Scott.)1
Number ChildrenMartha Jane Lakey and Francis P Wilson had no children.6
