    Services Held Monday For John Steines
    Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church in Adams, Monday morning for John Steines, 62, lifetime area resident, who died early Thursday morning in Mercy Hospital at Mason City.

    Mr. Steines has been in poor health for several years and had been hospitalized with a heart ailment for about two weeks previous to his death.

    The requiem mass was read by Father Schaum and the American Legion conducted military services at the grave. A complete obituary will be published next week.

    John A. Steines was born in Sioux City, Iowa of J. B. Steines and Anna Schroeder Steines. Mr. Steines came to Adams with his parents in 1900.

    As a young man Mr. Steines served 18 months in the United States Army during World War 1. Most of this time was spent in France.

    Mr. Steines was united in marriage with Frances Meyer on October 21, 1919 at St. Peter's Catholic Church at Rose Creek. This union was dissolved by her death on July 10, 1929.

    On June 3, 1931 Mr. Steines was united in marriage with Frances Harter of Stratford, Wisconsin. To this union was born four children Alphonse, Robert, Madeline and Mary Ann.

    Mr. Steines was a general contractor in this area until 1940 when his health made it impossible to keep on with this type of work. In 1947 Mr. Steines took over the management of the Adams Municipal Liquor Store. This position he held at the time of his death.
    Mr. Steines died at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa on October 27, 1955.

    He is survived by his family and three brothers, Math, Eugene and Joseph all of Stratford, Wisconsin and one sister, Elizabeth (Mrs. Frank Lehnertz) of Adams, Minn. One sister Anna (Mrs. Mike Kirtz) preceeded him in death.

    Father Kenneth Schaum said the Requiem mass. Burial was held at St. Peter's Cemetery at Rose Creek.
