  • [S796] Interview of Louis Peter Kueber (1910-1989), Garril Kueber, June, 1988 (Homewood, Illinois).
    Louis P. Kueber said:
John George Kueber emigrated to avoid military conscription.
Aloysius Louis and his family moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1920. They also had a summer cottage at Cass Lake, Minnesota. A. L. Kueber was diagnosed at Mayo Clinic just after 4 Jul 1926 as having cancer. They gave him only six months to live. He died of cancer almost exactly six months after it was diagnosed. His son Louis was sent away for his senior year in high school to St. John University in Collegeville, Minnesota, probably because of his father's health.

Louis Kueber said his oldest brother Herman Kueber tried farming in North Dakota. His father tried to help but eventually he went bankrupt and moved to Minnesota.

  • [S800] Cemetery Marker Kueber, St Joseph Cemetery. The grave-marker is located in long row 3 and reads "Kueber, Mary A", "Geb den 21 Mar 1848", "Gest den 14 Feb 1883". The stone is quite weathered but the year of birth appears to be 1848. Perhaps it originally read 1840 and through damage and weathering the 0 appeared to be an 8.
