Benjamin Penn Jr Benjamin Penn, Jr. , son of Benjamin and Dinah Action
Penn, was born about 1753 in Maryland. He married
Rebecca Ryan in the summer of 1774 in Montgomery
County, Maryland. In early 1790's he migrated to
Kentucky with his brothers, Joseph and Shadrach Penn,
first settling in Bourbon County, Kentucky, where he
is listed on the 1800 Kentucky census index. In 1810,
Benjamin Penn, along with his son Charles, were listed
on the census for Shelby County, Kentucky. The family
of Benjamin Penn in 1810 consisted of; 1 male 10-16, 1
male 16-26, 1 male 45 plus, 1 female 10-16, 1 female
16-26, 1 female 45 plus. By 1820 the family was living
in Franklin County, Kentucky on the waters of Stoney
Creek, a fork of the Kentucky River. Benjamin Penn,
Jr. died on May 10, 1827 in Franklin County, Kentucky
and is believed to be buried in the Penn family
graveyard at Stoney Creek. Ben served in the Maryland
Line during the Revolutionary War. At the age of 76,
his widow Rebecca, applied for pension on December 16,
1836 in Franklin County, Kentucky. The children of
Benjamin and Rebecca as reported with pension
application were; Asey or Axey, born in 1776 and
married a Mr. Marshall, daughter who married Mr.
McCann, Zacheus and Ephraim Penn, Polly, who married a
Mr. Warfield, Charles Penn, born in 1788, Benjamin
Penn, Betsey, who married a Mr. Onann or O'Nan, Noah
and Joseph Penn and Rebecca, who married Mr. Shadwick.
