We would take our kids to Chicago tothe museums or go to Indiana Dunes or West Beach with our children. Wespent a long time talking then and when I married Pierre and he marriedagain we lost touch with each other as families often do.¹

in Mahaska County, Iowa. He married Elizabeth MAYBERRY 22 July 1839 in
Clinton County, Ohio. He appears in the 1850 census for Green township,
Howard County, Indiana. The first record of him appearing in Iowa is the
purchase of land in 1853 from William and Maria MAYBERRY (Elizabeth's
parents?). He stated his father was from Ireland and his mother from
England in the 1880 census. Among Joseph's children were Uriah, b. 8 June
1841 in Clinton County, Ohio, and William born 1844 in Ohio. Both came to
Mahaska County, Iowa, in the early 1850's and both fought in the CivilWar.¹
