Gerald Edward McMAHAN, 67 of New Sharon died Thursday evening October20th 1977 at the New Sharon Care Center. He was born October 21, 1909 inMahaska County, the son of John and Jennie Burggraaf McMahan. He marriedJesse Grace Braden at Oskaloosa January 23, 1932. Gerald was employed byTaintor Elevator in New Sharon for about 13 years.
Surviving are his wife, Jesse; one son, Larry of New Sharon, onedaughter, Mrs. Marvin (Doris Marie) Freeborn of Barnes City, twograndchildren; three brothers, Donald McMahan of Barnes City, HasselMcMahan of Springfield and Adrian McMahan of Oskaloosa; four sisters;Mrs. Virgil (Dorothy) Lester and Mrs. Vern (Doris) Sheney both ofMontezuma; Mrs. Darwin (Hazel) Palmer and Helen McMahan both of BarnesCity.
He was preceded in death by four daughters and one son.
Funeral services were held Saturday October 22 at 2 P.M. in the HardinFuneral Home in New Sharon with Rev. Kerry Lake and Dale Schwechelofficiating. Burial was at Union Mills Cemetery.1 |
