Susannah Lowe1
Female, #17313, b. about 1836
Relationship | | Susannah Lowe is a parent or ancestor of a spouse of one of my relatives. Because Susannah is not a relative of mine I am not actively researching her. |
Birth | about 1836 | Susannah was born about 1836 in an unknown place .1 |
Marriage | March 14, 1858 | She married Young Alexander Jones, son of Amos Jones and Elizabeth Downey, March 14, 1858 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama .1 |
Birth of Daughter | May 7, 1859 | Her daughter Laura was born on May 7, 1859 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama .1 |
Marriage | November 12, 1866 | She married Green Jones November 12, 1866 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama .1 |
Death - no info | | I have no information on the date and place of Susannah's death.1 |
Note | | Marriage record shows Susannah's name as "Lowery"; however, in 1860 a Jane Lowe (age 22) was living in the Young A. Jones household. The only Lowery family that I could find living in the Tallapoosa County area in either 1850 or 1860 was an A. J. Lowery who was a printer. His wife was named Jane. Both A. J. and Jane are shown as having been born in Tennessee. Susannah shows her place of birth as South Carolina, therefore I do not believe that she is a daughter of A. J. Lowery. In view of the Jane Lowe living in their household, I believe that Susannah was probably a Lowe.
Susannah married Green Jones in 1866 in Tallapoosa County. The bondsman was A. E. Jones. I suspect that Y. A. Jones died in the Civil War and that A. E. Jones was her father-in-law, Amos Jones. Was Green Jones one of her brothers-in-law?
Green Jones had previously married Nancy Sanders, August 22, 1848, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Was Green the older son of Amos and Betsy whose name we do not know?1 |

Male, #17314, b. between 1797 and 1798, d. after 1860
Relationship | | Amos Jones is a parent or ancestor of a spouse of one of my relatives. Because Amos is not a relative of mine I am not actively researching him. |

Birth of Son | about 1835 | His son Young was born about 1835 in Monroe County, Georgia .1 |
Birth of Daughter | between 1839 and 1840 | His daughter Marietta was born between 1839 and 1840.1 |
Death | after 1860 | Amos died after 1860 in an unknown place .1 |
Note | | Census Records (Amos was born 1797-1798):
1820 - (Amos married in Jackson County, GA, in 1821) 1830 - Coweta County, Georgia 1840 - Coweta County, Georgia 1850 - Talladega District, Talladega County, Alabama 1860 - Pinckneyville District, Tallapoosa County, Alabama
The 1840 census shows 3 male children in Amos' family. Two of these would be William and Young A. The third would be an older son who was in the 15-20 year age brackett in 1840. Therefore there is an older son whose name we do not know. Also, there are three female children one of whom would be Marietta. The other two are older girls, one in the 10-15 year age bracket and the other in the 15-20 year age bracket in 1840. We do not know the names of these older girls.1 |
