| Note | | Information provided by Bill Thurmond:
John Thomas Thurmond served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War for Georgia. He applied for a pension September 13, 1793. He remarried and is the ancestor of Senator Strom Thurmond of South Carolina.
John and Molly seperated in June 1763. She took the children with her, but John, through court action, obtained full custody of the boys in November 1763. Although in the ensuing years, Molly and others of the Dicerson family proved to be an unending source of trouble.
In 1764, John married Elizabeth Goode, and they, despite the local trouble, farmed in Albermarle County until his father's death in 1774. Elizabeth was a favorite of Phillip's, she received a childs share of his estate as provided in the will. This arrangement did not suit the family so well and coupled with the Dickerson trouble, John sold out and moved his family in 1776. But the move did not solve the problems. John enlisted in the Revolutionary Army in 1777 and remained in service until 1783.
Immediately after the war, John made another move, he took his family to Georgia, and died in South Carolina in 1794. John is the progenitor of Senator Strom Thurmond. The complete history is in his book.

The deed witnessed by Robert Burton, James Wade and Isaac Thomas, was signed by Edmund Wade and Mildred Wade.
On 25 September 1824, David and Frances Wade retroactively conveyed 120 acres in Bedford County, which they had purchased from Isaac Thomas, to their son, Edmund Wade, for love and affection.1 |
