This indenture made this eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty BETWEEN Jeremiah Wade of Cumberland County, Pierce Wade and Thomas Cothon of Albemarle County Executors of Joseph Ballenger Decd of the one part and John Britt of Goochland County of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said Jermiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon for and in consideration of Sixty pound of lawfull money of Virginia by him the said John Britt to them the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon in hand paid before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof they the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said John Britt his heirs executors and administrators hath granted bargained sold ens?? and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell enf?? and confirm unto the said John Britt his heirs or assigns all that Massuage Plantation and tract of land whereon the said John Britt now dwelleth situate which said land is lying and being in Goochland County on the Byrd Creek containing by estimation one hundred and twenty eight acres be the same more or less and being bounded as followeth to witt/BEGINNING at the corner at the Byrd thence on John Hadens line to a corner on Bryan Connelys line thence on the said Connelys lines and Arthur Hopkins line to the Bryd and thence down the Bryd according to its meander to the place begun at which said tract of parcel of land was left by the aforesaid Joseph ballenger, Deceased to be sold by his aforesaid executors as may apear by the records of the County Court of Goochland and the reversion and re ersions remainder and remainders Rents Issues and profits thereof with the appurtances. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Messuage Plantation and tract of land with the apurtenances unto the said John Britt, his heirs and Assigns to the only use and behoof of the said John Britt, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon, their heirs and the Messuage Plantation and tract of land with the appurtenances unto the said John Britt his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these present against the claim and demand of them the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon for themselves their heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said John Britt his heirs and assigns that the premises and every part thereof with the appurtenances are free and discharged from all manner of incumberances and that the said John Britt his heirs and for notwithstanding any act or thing by them the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cothon their heirs and assigns or any other person committed done of suffered shall or lawfully may forever hereafter have hold use occupy possession and enjoy the same and every part thereof with the appurtenances without the lawfully set molestation or eviction of them and the said Jeremiah Wade, Pearce Wade and Thomas Cawthon their heirs or assigns or any other person whatsoever. In witness where of the parties aforesaid to these present have set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

James George, William Britt and John Faris proved this deed with the livery of seizin and receipt endorsed to be the acts and deeds of Jeremiah and Pearce Wade which were ordered to be recorded.
KNOW all men by these present that we, Jeremiah Wade of Cumberland County and Pearce Wade of Albemarle County at held and firmly bound unto John Britt of Goochland County in the sum of four hundred pounds of Lawfull money of Virginia to be paid unto the said John Britt his heirs Executors and Admrs to them which payment well and truly to be made, be bind ourselves our heirs Execrs and Admrs firmly by these presents, Sealed with our seals and dated this 24th day of February in the year of our lord 1749.
The condition of this present obligation is such that is the said Jermiah Wade and Pearce Wade, their heirs shall pay of all accounts bills bonds debts dues and demands which shall come against the Estate of Joseph Ballenger, Decd from the day of the Marriage of Charrity Ballenger, the widow of Joseph Ballenger decd, unto Jno Britt unto the day of her death and the lear and discarge the said John Britt, his heirs and c from all damages which sall arise from any of the said debts and th leave the said Jno Britt his heirs and c. inquiet and peaceable possession of the remainder of the Estate of Jos. Ballenger decd. without any interuption by the said Jeremiah Wade and the said Pearce Wade, their heirs and which the said John Britt hath not delivered by bond and if the said Jeremiah Wade shall lend unto the said John Britt, his heirs and c. one negro man named Tom until the said Jeremiah Wade and the said Pearce Wade shall purchase a negro man between the age of fourteen years and twenty or pay thirty pounds current money if the said Jeremiah Wade and the said Pearce Wade their heirs and c. shall comply with the articles above mentioned that this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force power and virtue. signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of us: James George, John Haris

Will of Jeremiah Wade, dated July 8, 1772 and proved in Bedford County on September 28, 1772, directed his executors, Richard Ballinger, James Hilton and Nathan Hilton, to sell his estate and, after paying his debts, divide the proceeds between his children, whom were not identified. It was witnessed by Abraham Ervine, Jesse Hilton and Elizabeth Mitchell and proved by the oaths of Ervine and Hilton. James Hilton, who served as executor, with Guy Smith as his security, made an inventory and appraisement fo the estate on October 10, 1772 and returned it to Bedford County Court on November 22, 1779.1 |

Isaac Wade was a bondsman for the executors of the will of James Hilton which was proved on September 25, 1786.

Isaac Wade signed the inventory and appraisement of the estate of Thomas Stevens, Jr., which was dated June 15th and presented to court on June 28, 1779, apparently because he had married the widow. His signature was in the place where an administrator or executor usually signed, but he was not designated as either. Neither was he one of the appraiser.
Isaac Wade Sr. was a veteran of the Revolutionary War.

Isaac, Virginia Line, Polly, W6389, soldier married Polly Gibbs, 11 February 1779, soldier died 9 August 1823, Widow applied 1 May 1839, Bedford County, Virginia, aged 78. Soldier's and Widow's 1st child was Jeremiah Wade was born 18 january 1780, Mrs. Mary B. Ryan aged 78 made affidavit in Bedford County, Virginia in 1839 and knew soldier and widow well but no kinship was given, widows son William Stevens was of Bedford County, Virginia in 1839 and in 1839 a Mary Wade daughter of Samuel Mitchell was a resident of Bedford County, Virginia but her relationship to soldier was not given.

Among the residents of Bedford County, who testified for Polly Gibbs Stevens Wade in 1839 on behalf of her application for a pension as the widow of Issac Wade, were her son, William Stevens, her son Alexander Wade, Mary E. Wade, daughter of Samuel Mitchell, who helped Polly Wade with the gathering of her corn fodder during the fall of 1781, when Isaac Wade was at Yorktown, Jesse Witt, who was in the Army with Isaac Wade at the battles of Brandywine and Germantown, John Arthur, who served in the militia with Isaac Wade at Yorktown, and Mary B. Ryan, who was 78 years old when she testified on May 3, 1839. Mary B. Ryan, who signed with her mark, must have been Mary Ballinger Wade, who married Whitehead Ryan, Jr., was a sister of Isaac Wade. These depositions identify the birth date of Jeremiah Wade, the first child of Isaac and Polly Wade, as January 18, 1780.1 |
