Cook was born on August 13, 1859, in Boone county, Ind., and departed this life June 20, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 7 days. He died in the Albany hopsital, Albany, Ore., from injuries sustained when struck by a car.

He spent his early life in Indiana and Iowa, moving iwth his parents to Kansas at the age of 17 years. He spent the greater part of his life in Franklin county.

On Nov. 21, 1885, at Bloomington, he was united in marriage to Ellen Haller who preceded him in death in 1934. To this union 8 children were born, two of which preceded him in death.

Surviving are six children; Virgie M. Odle of Sunnyside, Wash., Julia Gleason of Jefferson, Ore., John L. Cook of Franklin, William Cook of Sunnyside, Wash., Mary E. Mosbarger of Goodland, Kans., and Vea E. Flathers of Franklin; also one brother, J. D. Cook of Franklin, a sister, Mrs. Kinny Lewis of Silverton, Ore., 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He gave his heart to God 46 years ago and was a member of the Methodist church at the time of his death. He was making his home with a daughter, Julia Gleason, when he was hurt.

Pallbearers were Joe Schenk, Stephen Mankhey, Harry Kennedy, Henry Story, Guy Rogers and Walter Phillips. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.
