Herr's Magnolia Stock Farm was the site ofthe tragic poisioning of guests at an April 15, 1891, wedding. Thoughthe bride---Herr's daughter, Fannie Belle--survived, seven people,including bridegroom Winfred Snook, died. Jane Helen 'Jennie' Herr Hite,a cousin of the bride, was among the victims. The house, which stillstands, was constructed in the 1870's on the foundation of a previousstructure built by Albert Herr's father, John. 'Jersey cattle, trottinghorses, Berkshire hogs, and Silesian Merino sheep' were bred and raisedon the 206-acre farm, which was considered on of the finest in the state. She leaves four sons: Messrs.Walker, Sidney, of Kuttawa, Marion and Duncan Snook and one daughter, Mrs. Henry Rowland, of Louisville. 'Her husband and oldest son, the late Winford Snook were fatally poisoned at the same time' and her health was never the same since. The main house of Albert G.
